Piping systems must be designed to withstand primary and secondary loads according to the piping code rules and regulations. There are additional requirements for the evaluation of occasional loads. Typical of these types of loads are wind loads, earthquake loads, and quickly applied loads. The easier and more common way of analyzing these dynamic loads is usually to model them as static equivalents.
In this webinar, we will discuss how to set up static load cases to design piping systems for environmental occasional loads and consider nonlinear restraints. We will use examples from popular ASME piping codes and demonstrate how CAESAR II addresses the ASCE-7 standard for Wind and Seismic Load Combinations, including different requirements for the structural response (LRFD) and the allowable stress calculation (ASD). We will also touch on the Static Seismic Wizard in the Piping Input.
Meet the Presenter
Principal Software Lead, CAESAR II Development, Hexagon
Nadia Strikovski has been with the CAESAR II development team at Hexagon for nearly two decades. Throughout her career, she has been involved in various aspects of software engineering and design, instructed in technical seminars and webinars, wrote technical articles, managed a CAESAR II development department, implimented development and testing procedures, and was instrumental in establishing a nuclear quality assurance program. Currently, Nadia serves as a Principal Software Lead for CAESAR II. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and is also an active member of ASME.
